Administrator - Devices

The online functions the administrator executes remotely from their PC or Smartphone are transmitted from the server to the Gateway via Wi-Fi, and channelled via Bluetooth to the locks and access controls.
When the administrator Smartphone and the lock or access control to be managed are within the Bluetooth range, they communicate directly via Bluetooth and transmit the information without using the Gateway or Wi-Fi.

To implement an online system, a Wi-Fi network, locks and/or access controls with Bluetooth connectivity from Omnitec are essential.

The Omnitec PoE Gateway offers the same advanced features and performance as the standard Omnitec Gateway, with the added benefit of Power over Ethernet (PoE) connectivity. This model connects directly to the router using an RJ45 Ethernet cable, which delivers both network access and electrical power. The result is a cleaner, more reliable installation with fewer cables and improved long‑term stability.
Please note: the router or server must support PoE to power the gateway.

How the System Works

The Omnitec online system uses dual connectivity through Bluetooth and Ethernet‑powered communication, ensuring fast, secure and efficient interaction between access devices and administrators.

Device → Administrator Communication

Electronic locks and access control units send data via Bluetooth to the PoE Gateway.
The Gateway, connected to the hotel’s network, forwards this information to the server, making it instantly available to the system administrator.

Administrator → Device Communication

Remote actions performed by the administrator, whether from a PC or smartphone, are transmitted from the server to the Gateway via the Ethernet network. The Gateway then relays these commands to the locks and access controls using Bluetooth.
When the administrator’s smartphone is within Bluetooth range of a lock or access control device, communication occurs directly, without using the Gateway.
